Automated QR Labeling and Appearance Verification System

Problem Overview

QR code labeling is currently performed manually, and a dedicated team carries out 100% appearance inspection and records QR code data for verification. This process is manpower-intensive and creates opportunities for labeling errors, unreadable codes, missing records and variation in visual inspection. The challenge is to develop an integrated automated system that applies or verifies the QR label, checks code readability and appearance requirements, and records the verification result digitally for each part.

Industrial Context & Background

Traceability / Machine Vision / Quality Automation

Technical Requirements

1) Support existing QR code/data format
2) Verify label presence, content and readability
3) Inspect defined appearance criteria using vision where feasible
4) Provide immediate OK/NG indication
5) Automatically store QR and inspection result
6) Maintain part/date-time/shift traceability and failed-verification records

Suggested Technology Stack: QR Printing/Verification; Computer Vision; Industrial Camera; OCR/Code Reader; Database; Automation

Expected Solution & Prototype

1) QR code readability/verification success rate quantified
2) % parts automatically verified without manual recording
3) Missing/wrong/unreadable QR labels automatically detected
4) Appearance-defect detection accuracy measured against a verified reference set
5) Inspection and data-recording cycle time per part quantified
6) Reduction in dedicated manual inspection/recording effort measurable
